Consultancy

Strategic Advice »

Global Philanthropic provides clients with research-informed advice to devise their funding strategies and to guide them in their decision-making processes. Advice is provided on a range of critical issues such as leadership and organisational development, institutional planning, donor relationship management, market positioning, volunteer development and project planning. We also provide bespoke advice and coaching for senior staff and volunteers, either on an ad-hoc basis, or for a specified number of days over a set time period.

Out-of-Country Representation »

Organisations are obtaining an increasingly substantial share of their support from abroad, requiring them to acquire specialised local expertise for each region. Global Philanthropic has a unique capacity for helping clients reach their high-value prospects and manage their key relationships across diverse countries and cultures. Where conventional methods are less effective, we provide country-specific strategies and help with execution. This often takes the form of representational services and provides a cost-effective solution for clients wishing to reach out to new prospects and develop new markets.

Campaign Feasibility and Planning »

Successful campaigns are like precision timepieces with all of their parts moving in synchrony to achieve a single goal and to develop the individual potential of every donor. This in turn depends upon the preparation that has taken place before the actual fundraising begins. The first step in planning for a campaign is usually a feasibility and planning study, which is a form of empirical market analysis involving confidential interviews with potential high-net-worth donors and volunteer leaders to test the attractiveness of the campaign, evaluate potential sources of support, and identify key supporters and leaders.

Case Development »

Building a concise Case for Support that captures the spirit and ambitions of the organisation, is among the more challenging aspects of institutional development, especially when appealing to donor prospects across different countries and cultures. Through high-level interviews, literature review, and group sessions, Global Philanthropic assists clients with distilling their vision and the opportunities at hand into a compelling argument for financial backing, which has the support of the various stakeholders within the organisation.

Campaign Design and Support »

Global Philanthropic provides expert assistance to clients at every stage of a campaign: from development audit and feasibility study; through prospect research and campaign design; to volunteer recruitment, lead & major gift solicitation, and public appeal; to post-campaign assessment. Our Advisors have extensive first-hand experience at running campaigns and can ensure that realistic goals are set, leadership boards are well constructed, and that sound plans are developed and executed, ensuring a successful and rewarding outcome.

Fundraising Assessment »

It is an axiom of development that what happens before the fundraising begins is more important than the fundraising itself. To help clients examine the strengths and weaknesses of their operations and determine the tools and skills needed to achieve their goals, Global Philanthropic performs strategic fundraising assessments. These involve interviews with key leaders and volunteers and detailed analysis of related internal structures and systems. In addition to an objective assessment of potential, the client receives a clear strategy with specific recommendations for improvement and a draft case for support.

Development Operations Set-up »

For organisations that are just getting started with a systematic development programme, Global Philanthropic ensures that they get off on the right foot, by advising on the best structure for positioning it within the organisation to support the other functions. We also provide the tools, training and guidance to managers and staff.

Development of Volunteer Boards »

This critical area of advisory service is available to help organisations leverage their networks of influence, firstly by developing their volunteer boards (governing and non-governing) in more strategic ways, and secondly by mobilising them to work on behalf of the organisation. Global Philanthropic provides training and advice to organisations and their leading volunteers on issues involving board dynamics, volunteer leadership, fundraising, and strategic construction and maintenance. This is typically undertaken through a process of interviews and bespoke training.

Giving & Wealth

Strategy and advice »

Global Philanthropic's Giving and Wealth Strategies provides individuals and organisations personalised advice on maximising the impact of their charitable giving. Our advisors- all former professional fundraisers -- know that making effective charitable donations is not an easy task; there are a multitude of good causes and the motivations for giving time and money can be complex, personal, and emotional. Our approach, therefore, starts with the donor. Our services are designed to help our clients refine and articulate their philanthropic values to ensure their giving of both time and funding makes a meaningful impact.

We work closely with our clients' financial and legal advisors, but our services focus solely on philanthropic advice and guidance. We do not provide financial, investment or legal advice. We work with the utmost discretion to respect and protect our clients' privacy.

Giving and Wealth Strategies is part of Global Philanthropic, which has worked with leading international non-profit organisations, philanthropists, and private foundations around the world for over seven years.

The review covers information relating to all current and future aspects that should be considered when choosing a new provider:

  • data structure for recording, tracking and reporting on your organisation’s fundraising activities
  • ability to meet the needs of staff in different roles and locations
  • IT platform (hardware and software) and minimum specifications required for successful data conversion and implementation
  • other technical issues like security and ability to integrate with other systems eg. accounts department software.
  • costs for set up, upgrades, training and ongoing support

Strengths and limitations will be identified along with recommendations relating to budget and organisational needs.
