How can the largest wealth transfer in history shape a better future for all?
Our first speaker at the Talking Philanthropy 2024 forum on 20th November was no less than the 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, whose opening remarks inspired our discussions for the day.
In his address, Ban Ki-moon spoke about the extraordinary opportunity presented by the largest wealth transfer in history, highlighting how, if used wisely, it could address global challenges. Stressing the importance of open dialogue between generations and collaboration across sectors to maximise its impact, Ban Ki-moon emphasised the critical need for conversations to bridge perspectives, share wisdom, and align values.
The forum featured research and viewpoints from leading academics and prominent philanthropists, together with a delegate from the United Nations Foundation’s ‘Unlock the Future Coalition‘ which represents 25 major youth-focused organisations, and explored ways to inspire action, create lasting change, and build a brighter, sustainable future for many generations to come.
