Global Philanthropic is pleased to announce that Jean Sung has joined its main board as a Non-Executive Director, effective 11th December 2025.

Jean is one of the most experienced philanthropic leaders in Asia, with a career spanning private wealth, corporate philanthropy, and cross-sector collaboration. This is a strategic and critical appointment for Global Philanthropic as the organisation continues to strengthen and grow its presence across Asia, a region of profound philanthropic ambition, complexity and opportunity.

Jean brings extensive global experience at the intersection of wealth, values, and impact having founded J.P. Morgan Private Bank’s Philanthropy Centre in Asia, where she partnered closely with ultra-high-net-worth clients and multi-generational families to shape giving strategies aligned with their values, legacy and governance priorities.

Previously, she led corporate philanthropy for J.P. Morgan across 13 countries in Asia, giving her a rare understanding into how social challenges vary by market and why effective philanthropy depends on local insight and clear priorities as well as measurable outcomes. Her work has spanned workforce development, financial empowerment, education, health and disaster response.

Widely respected for bringing the right people together across the private, public and social sectors to unlock collaboration and scale, Jean also hosted a closed-door Talking Philanthropy 2024 roundtable in Hong Kong, convening leading Asian philanthropists for candid discussion on the future of giving in the region.

Commenting on her appointment, Jean said, “Given the current global context, philanthropy and impactful community investments are vital to meet societal challenges. Responsible deployment of private capital will bridge funding gaps, bringing sustainable solutions to humanitarian and environmental issues and building a more equitable, resilient world.”

Ben Morton Wright, CEO and Founder of Global Philanthropic, said, “Over the 23 years since founding Global Philanthropic, it has been my ambition to have all key global markets represented at the board table. Jean’s appointment brings that full global perspective at a critical time. She offers unrivalled depth of knowledge, wisdom and credibility, shaped by extensive experience working with ultra-high-net-worth families, institutions and communities across Asia.”

As explored in our most recent Talking Philanthropy forum, the intergenerational wealth transfer dialogue within families is increasingly central to effective long-term giving. Ben added, “To have someone of Jean’s calibre and experience guiding this work in Asia represents an important step in our development, strengthening our expertise and advisory support across the group.  Her insight will be invaluable as we continue to support thoughtful, ambitious and enduring philanthropy across the region and worldwide, and her appointment further reinforces the board with strategic rigour and deep expertise in complex, cross-border giving. We are deeply honoured to welcome Jean to the board.”
